My motivations for becoming a financial professional are deeply personal. I have witnessed many friends and family members struggle to find the assistance they need to plan for their financial futures. I believe that my knowledge of personal finance, combined with my training as a financial professional, enables me to help people better prepare for what lies ahead.

Gene has amassed over 30 years of experience in financial services and investments. He started his career on Wall Street as an auditor with Prudential Securities after graduating from Muhlenberg College in 1990. Wanting to transition into trading, he became a Government Bond trading assistant and eventually advanced to an institutional high-yield corporate bond trader with Prudential in 1998. In 2012, he joined CIBC as an Executive Director to oversee high-yield trading operations, and in 2015, he became the Principal Head of US High Yield Trading at Canaccord Genuity. Gene also developed strong relationships with several Institutional Money Managers in a sales capacity. After a successful career on Wall Street, Gene joined Combined Insurance, a division of Chubb, and then established Black River Associates LLC in 2021 to help clients plan, grow, and preserve their assets in today’s complex financial landscape.
In addition to his professional career, Gene is an active member of the Pottersville Volunteer Fire Company, where he serves as a Captain, assistant treasurer, and Finance Committee Chairman. He also holds the position of Treasurer at the local chapter of the New Jersey State Fireman’s Association. Gene resides in Pottersville, New Jersey, with his wife, Diana, and their two daughters, Lindsay and Alex. In his leisure time, he enjoys golfing, hiking, reading history, and spending time with family and friends.
Gene holds a BA from Muhlenberg College and an MBA from New York University’s Stern School of Business. He also possesses the Accredited Wealth Management Advisor (AWMA), Certified Plan Fiduciary Advisor (CFPA), and Income-Related Monthly Adjustment Account Certified Planner (IRMAAPCP) designations. He is registered with the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) and holds FINRA Series 24 and 7 and NASAA Series 66 and 63 qualifications. Additionally, Gene is a licensed Life, Accident, and Health agent in NJ, NY, PA, and FL. He is a registered representative and investment advisor representative at OSAIC Wealth Inc.
